Loke Yen was born in the small Miri city popularly known as The Oil Town in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Being the favorite grandchild to his grandfather, Loke Yen was the jewel of the family. But as years passed, his family slowly began to notice his lack of ability to learn. Visits to doctors could not accurately pinpoint the reason behind this. It was some more years later before Loke Yen was diagnosed with mild autism (autism spectrum disorder).

Worrying for her child's future, Loke Yen's mother, who is herself a. experienced teacher, had tried all kinds of ways to help Loke Yen. Her efforts was not in vain when Loke Yen's talent in music was later discovered by his music teacher Miss Ngee Peng, a music therapist. From then on, music had been Loke Yen's focus in life. He was later to be enrolled into Broadway Music Academy when he moved to Kuala Lumpur. Loke Yen had since graduated.

A devoted Christian, Loke Yen is known to be very socialable, making friends wherever he goes.He is currently residing in Malacca (also known as The Historical State of Malaysia) with his mother, and a few doors away from his sister.
